Disney practically owns the movie animation landscape and I have found that they have been embarking on a strategy of remaking their most popular animated classics as live-action films. On the heels of successful films such as The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, Disney now has their sights set on the 1990’s hit Aladdin. Expect some deviation from between the animated original versus the May 24 live-action remake.
This remake has some big boots to fill, even down to the soundtrack from the original. The original Aladdin is still one of Disney’s most memorable and popular films, notably the iconic performance of the late Robin Williams. Will Smith will try to do justice in the role of the Genie in the remake. We shall await the release to see whether Disney can outdo themselves and make another memorable classic.
